Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched yet another ultra-affordable smartphone, the Redmi S2 in China. The Redmi S2 is the first ever smartphone to be launched under the new S series. As for the specs, the smartphone has a 5.99-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. Inside, it comes powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The phone is offered in two variants – 3GB RAM paired with 32GB storage, and the other with 4GB RAM paired with 64GB storage. The storage does memory expansion via a microSD up to 256GB. Under the hood, the smartphone is backed by a 3,080mAh non-removable battery which lacks fast charging. On the software front, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 skin on top.
Connectivity option includes- 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, micro USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Talking about the cameras, the device comes with dual camera setup at the back, which includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with EIS, PDAF and LED flash. On the front, it comes with a 16-megapixel camera with AI Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty Mode and an LED Flash.

On the pricing point, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 is priced at CNY 999(roughly Rs.16,950) for the 3GB+32GB variant and CNY 1,299(roughly Rs.22,050) for the 4GB+64GB variant. Currently, the phone is available for purchase in China only. No words on the global launch yet.
