Samsung is apparently working on its upcoming flagship smartphones-Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. We can already see a lot of rumors and leaks flying around about the up and coming phones. Earlier today, a report came around suggesting that the company is planning a preview event for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January. Though it’s unclear how much details will be revealed at the tech event regarding both devices.
According to latest reports, the upcoming Samsung devices are codenamed as Star 1 and Star 2. The model numbers were also included and they are tagged as SM-G960 and SM-G965. As of now, there isn’t yet any confirmed news on the specifications and overall design of the phone. But according to prolific leaker Evan Blass, the new phones are likely to come with upgraded processor- perhaps a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Soc. Since Samsung has announced its new flagship Exynos 9810 processor which is likely power the phones for markets outside the U.S.
Samsung “The Exynos 9 Series 9810 is Samsung’s latest flagship processor, with 3rd-generation custom CPU cores, upgraded GPU, and gigabit LTE modem with industry-first 6CA support. It is built on 2nd generation 10nm process technology.”
As far as RAM is concerned, the Galaxy S9 Plus is expected to pack a 6GB of RAM while the S9 will come with 4GB of RAM. The S9 Plus is also rumored to feature a secondary rear camera. Both the phones will have 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card. Recently, an international version of Galaxy S9 appeared on GeekBench website and the page suggests that the phone will run on Android Oreo out of the box.
Moreover, both the phones will come with an enhanced iris scanner and back side of the phone will be embedded with finger scanner as well. Another noticeable change will be the addition of AKG stereo speakers. Both the phones will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. Another interesting rumor is that the new phones will be included with heat pipes for cooling. Samsung is also working on its new Dex Docking station where the phone is used as a touchpad or virtual keyboard.
Finally, talking about the design, Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are reported to have similar design language and curved-edge Infinity Display Screen size as that of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.
